Sunday Igboho Reports Over 80,000 Volunteers for Iru Ekun Security Network

Sunday Adeyemo, widely known as Sunday Igboho, announced on Monday that the Iru Ekun Security Network, an initiative aimed at enhancing local security in the South-West, has attracted over 80,000 volunteers. This figure surpasses the initial target of 50,000 and indicates strong community support for local security measures.

Igboho, a prominent Yoruba nation activist and founder of the security outfit, emphasized that the surge in volunteer numbers reflects the commitment of the Yoruba people to combat issues such as terrorism and kidnapping. He stated that there has been a notable decrease in kidnapping incidents in regions previously plagued by such crimes since the launch of the initiative.

In a statement released by his media office in Ibadan, Igboho highlighted the importance of thorough background checks for volunteers to ensure that those with criminal records do not infiltrate the organization. He commended the collaboration among various security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services, which has been instrumental in restoring public confidence in security efforts.

“The level of enthusiasm from our people is truly remarkable,” Igboho remarked. “We have officially launched our operations in Oyo and Osun states and are set to expand into Kwara State shortly, with the support of local stakeholders, including Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.”

Igboho's statement further pointed out that the Iru Ekun Security Network operates within the framework of the law, aiming to restore peace in rural communities. He urged Nigerians to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s initiative to work alongside local communities in addressing security challenges.

He also acknowledged the support received from federal security leaders, including the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, and the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun. This collaboration, he noted, has been essential for the network’s achievements thus far.

Igboho urged all citizens, regardless of their ethnic or religious backgrounds, to view security as a shared responsibility. He underscored the significance of local intelligence in combating crime and maintaining safety in communities across the South-West region.

As the Iru Ekun Security Network prepares to expand, Igboho remains optimistic about its potential to further enhance security and foster community cooperation in the fight against crime.
