Gombe State governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, on Tuesday, transmitted to the state House of Assembly a list of 23 nominees for appointment as commissioners and members of the State Executive Council (SEC).
The governor is seeking legislative approval in accordance with the provisions of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).
In a letter dated June 29, and addressed to Speaker of Abubakar Mohammed Luggerewo, the governor invoked Section 192(2) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), requesting the assembly’s approval to appoint the nominees to assist in the formulation and implementation of government policies and the effective administration of the state.
The nominees are: Alhaji Abdulkadir Mohammed Waziri, Alhaji Sanusi Ahmed, Hajiya Aishatu Mohammed Bose Ahmed, Bala Adams, Mr Micah Sunday Hamman, Mohammed Saidu Mohammed, and L.D. Faruk.
Others are Muhammad Gambo Magaji, Professor Aishatu Umaru Maigari, Zubairu M. Umar, Adamu Dishi Kupto, Shehu Yerima Abdullahi, Ibrahim Shehu Turaki, Sani Ahmed Haruna, Moses Kyari Bolda, Yusuf Jalingo, and Dr Usman Maijama’a Kallamu.
Also, Professor Danladi Adamu Bojude, Alhaji Salihu Baba Alkali, Dr Bertha Danja, Dr Habu Dahiru, Nasiru Muhammad Aliyu, and Yusuf Abdu Kwadon, were on the list.
Governor Yahaya noted that the nominees were selected to provide policy direction and functional contributions necessary for the efficient running of the machinery of government and the consolidation of the administration’s development agenda.
The governor expressed confidence that the assembly will give favourable consideration to the request and conveyed his regards to the legislature.
The assembly is expected to commence the screening and confirmation process in the coming days, after which the successful nominees will be sworn in and assigned portfolios to drive the next phase of the administration’s governance and development programmes.
