The defendants, identified as Abdulrazak Umar, Yunusa Musa and Shamsu Adamu Sani, are facing a 10-count charge bordering on terrorism, kidnapping, concealment of information, incitement and illegal mining.
According to the charge, the suspects allegedly conspired with three other individuals said to be at large to facilitate the abduction of the victims between January and May 2026, in violation of the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022.
The prosecution further accused the trio of providing support to the alleged masterminds of the kidnapping and failing to disclose information that could have aided security agencies in preventing the crime or apprehending those responsible.
Court documents also alleged that the defendants knowingly concealed the identities of key members of the kidnapping network despite having prior knowledge of their activities.
One of the accused, Abdulrazak Umar, is additionally charged with providing ideological training to suspected terrorists through a WhatsApp platform and allegedly using the forum to encourage acts of terrorism.
He is also facing a separate count of illegal gold mining, with prosecutors alleging that he operated unlawfully in parts of Suleja, Niger State, between 2024 and 2026.
The charges are connected to the May 15 attack on Community Grammar School, Baptist Nursery and Primary School, and L.A. Primary School in Oriire Local Government Area, where dozens of pupils and teachers were abducted by armed men.
The incident claimed the lives of Assistant Headmaster Joel Adesiyan, who was shot while attempting to escape, and Mathematics teacher Michael Oyedokun, who was later killed during the victims' captivity.
The abducted pupils and teachers regained their freedom on July 10 following a coordinated military operation targeting the kidnappers' hideouts within the Old Oyo National Park.
Authorities said several suspects were arrested during the rescue operation, while the Presidency maintained that no ransom was paid and no concessions were granted to secure the victims' release.
