A female student identified as Ms Deborah, of Shehu Shagari College of Education in Sokoto, has been lynched to death by a mob on Thursday.
First Awareness learnt that,Ms Deborah was accused of blaspheming against Prophet muhammad(SAW). hence,her attack and burnt to death by suspected Muslims students of the same institution.
It was also reported that she made derogatory remarks about the holy Prophet on the college campus.
First Awareness reports also that, following threats to her safety, she was evacuated to the school’s security post, but the mob traced her to the location, attacked the security personnel and overwhelmed them.
They snatched the lady from the security people, set her on fire after she was bludgeoned to death.
First Awareness gathered that, trouble and chaos erupted on Thursday morning when Deborah entered the school premises.

The assailants were acting on messages said to have been sent out a day earlier by Deborah.
Sources said she had sent a voice note on a student WhatsApp platform condemning the sharing of religious maerials, insisting that the group was meant and created for school work which included tests and assignments.
It was gathered that she reminded them that messages related to ‘the messenger of Allah’ were not part of it.
Deborah was said to have in a viral voice note sent to the WhatsApp group on Wednesday evening described the religious materials as ‘useless.’
So, when she came to school this morning some youths in Sokoto attacked her with stones and burnt her to death after chanting ‘Allahu Akbar.’
The college administration has published a statement announcing the immediate closure of the institution as a result of the ensuing incident.
"Following today’s early morning students rampage in the College, the College Management has resolved to close down the College indefinitely with immediate effect.
Consequently, all students are hereby directed to vacate the College campus immediate,” the statement read.
Also, the Sokoto State governor, Aminu Tambuwal has condemned the killing of Deborah by muslim youths for alleged blasphemy against Prophet Muhammad.
Governor Tambuwal urged the people to remain calm, assuring that the perpetrators of the killing would be fished out by security agencies while appropriate steps would also be taken upon conclusion of investigation into the remote and immediate cause of the violence.
He said, “It has come to the notice of Sokoto State Government, the unfortunate incident that took place at the Shehu Shagari College of Education (SSCOE) Sokoto in which a Student of the College, lost her life.
“The Government has ordered the immediate closure of the College. Already, the State Governor Rt. Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has directed the Ministry of Higher Education, and relevant Security agencies in the State to commence investigations into the remote and immediate causes of the incident and reportback to the Government.
“Meanwhile, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has called on the people of the State to remain calm and maintain peace, as the Government would take appropriate actions on the findings of the investigations by the the relevant authority."
