Chief Bisi Kolawole,the anointed candidate of the former Governor of Ekiti State,Peter Fayose has been declared winner of the primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP held today,Wednesday 26th, January,2022 in Ekiti State.
First Awareness reports that now fewer than 11 Aspirants contested the elections which was described as free and fair.
The Contestants were,Bisi Kolawole, Senator Biodun Olujimi, Forme Governor,Engr Segun Oni, Professor Kolapo Olusola, Yinka Akerele, Deji Ogunsakin, Lateef Ajijola, Wale Aribisala, Ayodeji Kazeem and Kayode Adaramodu.
Chief Bisi Kolawole who recorded a total number of 671 votes was declared winner by the chairman electoral committee of the party, Governor Emmanuel Udom of Akwa Ibom state.
He said Bisi Kolawole won the election having scored the highest number of votes cast.
According to him, Bisi Kolawole scored 671 votes to defeat other contestants and thus emerged as winner.
Statistics from the poll include, Yinka Akerele 0, Adekemi Adewumi 1, Biodun Olujimi, 2, Lateef Ajijola 1, Ayodeji Kazeem, 6, Kayode Adaramodu 10, Professor Kolapo Olusola scored 93, Adewale Aribisala, 56, Segun Oni recorded 330, Bisi Kolawole 671 while, 13 votes were recorded as void votes.
The election which was held at the Eagle Hall, Ado Ekiti started with accreditation of delegates at the Pope John Paul 2 Pastoral Centre, Ikere Road, Ado Ekiti.
The election was held under a peaceful atmosphere as armed police officers were fully on ground to forestall any breakdown of law and order.
Addressing journalists, after the election,chairman, PDP electoral committee, Governor Emmanuel Udom of Akwa Ibom state appreciated party members for their display of maturity and cooperation which led to the success of the poll.
Governor Udom noted that the election was transparent and devoid of any manipulation.
He called on the winner to be magnanimous in victory while those who lost should be strong in defeat.fair
