In fulfillment of its Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR), the Federal Medical Centre, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta in collaboration with Joga-Orile Community has carried out a Free Eye Screening and Operation for the people of the Community and its environs.
The Medical Outreach, held in partnership with Tolu Odebiyi Foundation to mark the 19th Coronation anniversary of the Abepa of Joga-Orile that comes up next week Thursday 21st December,2021.
According to the press statement signed by Jeremiah Okon,of the Public Relations Department of FMC Abeokuta,the exercise, which was coordinated by the Department of Ophthalmology in collaboration with Community Medicine and Primary care Department (CMPC) witnessed a high turnout of residents.
Speaking at the event, the Aremo of Joga land and the Chairman FMCA/Joga Community liaison Officer, Rrtd. Comptroller of Prisons Ayokanmbi Adebiyi congratulated FMCA for the success of the Program over the years and also poured encomiums on the Medical Director Prof. Adewale Musa -Olomu for the support given to Joga-Orile and its environs.
He prayed God to give him the grace and wisdom needed to continue to pilot the affairs of Medical Centre.
Responding, the Coordinator for Community Health Centre (FMCA Joga-Orile) Dr. (Mrs) M.O Osinubi, and Deputy Coordinator, Dr. Olusegun Adebisi said the Outreach was a yearly event done as part of FMCA Corporate Social Responsibilities .
The duo thanked the benefiting Communities for their cooperation while assuring them of the Medical Director's continued support .
Highlights of the Outreach were Free Eye Screening, Free Eye Operation, CATARACT, PTERYGIUM, Free Eye Drop Medication and Free Eye Glasses among others.
A total of 276 residents were seen while 20 of them were booked for Surgery on Monday, 20th December, 2021.
The roll call of Medical and Nursing Personnel present at the Outreach according to the statement,were Dr (Mrs) Osinubi M O..Coordinator,
Dr Olusegun Adebisi Dep. Coordinator and
Dr Ahmed Abdullahi.Head of CMPC. Department.
Others from Ophthalmology department according to him,were ,Dr Awodein (Consultant Ophthalmologist),
Dr Ibrahim Yusuf (Consultant Ophthalmologist) and
Five Medical Officers from Ophthalmology dept
According to Mr. Okon,Nurses from both CMPC , Ophthalmology departments and other cadres of staffs gave tremendous support to the success of the exercise.
Meanwhile, First Awareness reports that the 19th Coronation Anniversary of Abepa Joga-Orile,Oba Adeyemi Adekeye will hold next week Thursday,2021 at Joga- Orile ,Yewa North Local government area's.
