Ogun; No Fewer Than 3 People Burnt To Death, As Fuel Tanker Overturned In Lafenwa Market

At least, no fewer than three persons including a mother and her daughter were today burnt to death in Abeokuta,the Ogun State capital.

First Awareness reports that, several others sustained various degree of injuries in a tanker explosion at railway crossing, Lafenwa, Abeokuta, on Sunday morning.

An eye witness who was narrow escaped on her way to Church told First Awareness that, the unfortunate incident happened when a fuel laden tanker overturned at the railway level crossing in Lafenwa on its way  towards Ayetoro garage.

According to her, someone just called her attention to the falling tanker on her way from Ayetoro garage and she made a u- turned and just about few minutes, the whole area just ignited with fire.

Lamenting profusely,she said "the God is good,yes !my savior is with me ,I thank God .He has helped me ,He saved me from untimely death,I thanked Him."she lamented.

Meanwhile, First Awareness gathered that,the owner of the tanker brought another tanker to offload the contents inside the falling one and why doing that fuel which has split on the ground down to the market area was ignited with fire.

In it's reaction,the Ogun State Traffic Enforcement Agent said statement signed by Cdr. Babatunde Akinbiyi, “The earlier reported tanker laden with fuel which overturned while making its way inbound Rounder from Oju-Irin, Lafenwa, is now engulfed in fire, due to the uncooperative attitude of people around the axis through scooping of fuel and other unwholesome act which sparked off the fire”.

First Awareness further reports that, the fire affected many shops at Lafenwa  market while,information has it that the miscreants are having free day to loot shops as owners has fled to avoid being affected by the inferno.
