2023; Media Reports, Political Calculations To Foist Cracks Between Me ,Tinubu_ Osinbajo

__Says,Am Not Working Against Tinubu’s Presidential Ambition.

By Niyi Ogungbola
Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo has described some media reports that is working against Tinubu to succeed President Buhari in 2023 as a mere insinuations and an attempt to foist cracks between himself and former Lagos State Governor, Bola Ahamed Tinubu

Osinbajo said the reports were just  an attempt  by some political opponents to cause division among the two as he is not working against Tinubu's ambition to become President in 2023.

Meanwhile,a group claimed to be loyal to VP’s under the name, Progressives Consolidation Group,(PCG) allegedly said they have received approval of the APC leadership, through a letter by its caretaker chairman, Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni to campagn for Osinbajo as President.

The endorsement was contained in the letter titled, “Letter of Recognition As A Support Group,” dated October 4, 2021, which was signed by the Director, Administration of the APC, Abubakar Suleiman, and made public in Abuja on Saturday.

The letter which was addressed to the PCG, read in part, “We write to inform you that the National Chairman, His Excellency, Mai Mala Buni has approved your recognition as a support group of the party.”

Subsqently however, there was a face off between Osinbajo and Tinubu supporters on a Television Programme Today thereby insinuating that,Osinbajo is also interested to contest in 2023 elections.

Responding quickly to the development, the Political Adviser to the Vice-President, Babafemi Ojodu, said his boss has totally washed his hands off a face-off between his supporter and Tinubu’s on a television programme and the attendant news story in a national newspaper.

“My attention has been drawn to a media engagement on Channels TV this morning and a front page story of Daily Independent on Monday.

“On the Channels TV Sunrise programme two persons supposedly representing Asiwaju Support Group and Osinbajo Support Group were pitched against each other.

“On the other hand, Daily Independent ran an headline thus:
2023 Presidency: Osinbajo On A Collision Course With Tinubu, Pushes To Succeed Buhari

“It is incumbent on me to state emphatically that neither the Vice President nor his office is aware of this or endorse this kind of a divisive engagement and news reports.

“Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo are members of same party. Osinbajo regards Tinubu as a respected leader of a political family to which he belongs and will therefore not for any reason endorse an endeavor that seeks to pitch them against each other.

“We are not unaware of some people who may want to foist a crack among our leaders. Such an attempt is abortive. Osinbajo and Tinubu’s relationship dates way back and it shall continue to wax strong.

“Let me therefore call on individuals and media houses engaged in this act to desist from doing so. The APC remains one single, indivisible party and Osinbajo remains a loyal member of the party who respects both the party structure as well as its leaders" Ojodu stressed.

Meanwhile,First Awareness reports, that Osinbajo was Commissioner of Justice in the cabinet of Tinubu when the latter was Governor of Lagos State and whom Tinubu  supported wholeheartedly as Vice President during his two terms elections with President Buhari.
