Vigilante members beat 25-year-old man to death in Jigawa


Three vigilante members have beaten a 25-old-man Adamu Salisu to death at Madachi village, Kirikasamma Local Government area of Jigawa State.

Residents told FIRST AWARENESS that the three vigilante members used stick to beat Adamu at Madachi village in Kirikasamma Local Government while fetching water at a borehole.

“I don’t know exactly what happened, I just saw the vigilante members moving directly to the borehole and they started an exchange of word with Adamu.

“Suddenly, they started beating him with sticks until he collapsed,” the source said.

Police spokesman, ASP Lawan Shiisu Adam confirmed the incident to FIRST AWARENESS.

He said the incident happened on Saturday at Madachi Village after the victim came out to fetch water at a borehole opposite his house.

“He met with the vigilante group members while they were on foot patrol. They criminally conspired, went to the borehole and started quarrelling with him to the extent that they beat him with a stick.

“The victim was later admitted at Hadejia General Hospital for treatment where he died while recieving treatment,” the police said.

Adam said the suspects were arrested, including, Malam Idi, Usman Mallam and Isa Yahuza all of Madachi Village Kirikasamma LGA.

He said the Commissioner of Police had ordered that the case to be transferred to SCIID Dutse for further investigation.

He said they will be charged to court after investigation.
