Lawal emphasized the potential of major projects like the Ibadan Circular Road, the Air Force Base in Ajia, and the Ajoda Housing Estate to transform Egbeda into a hub of development. He urged residents affected by the Circular Road project to view it as a long-term investment, assuring them of compensation aligned with public interest.
Unlike the unplanned settlements that emerged around the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway post-1977, Lawal stressed that this new road will come with meticulous planning to ensure sustainable growth over the next two to three decades.
He stated, "Egbeda Local Government is now a modal point within Ibadan—encircled by projects designed to drive development. The benefits may not be immediately visible, but we are planning for the future."
The Deputy Governor also acknowledged the construction of the new office, which was funded through the council's internally generated revenue, as a testament to good governance. He praised the leadership of Hon. Sikiru Sanda, the Executive Chairman, for his efforts in executing impactful projects.
Sanda expressed gratitude to Governor Seyi Makinde for empowering local governments to realize their development visions. He reassured the community that more projects are on the horizon, emphasizing his commitment to serving Egbeda until the end of his tenure.
Goodwill messages poured in from dignitaries, including Hon. Emmanuel Akintunde and Elder Wole Oyelese, who applauded Sanda’s governance and the transformative projects underway.
Dr. Monsurat Ayo-Alaga, Head of Administration, highlighted the new office complex as a reflection of the council's commitment to financial prudence and accountability. She also noted the importance of recognizing past chairmen for their contributions to the council's growth.
The event, attended by various dignitaries, including traditional rulers and religious leaders, marked a significant step toward realizing the development goals for Egbeda and Oyo State as a whole.
